STATUS OF CALL FOR PROPOSALS
All participating Countries: Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia
The Skills Initiative for Africa Financial Cooperation is an African Union Commission intervention implemented by the African Union Development Agency with financing from Germany and the European Union through KfW Development Bank. The Programme provides grants for selected innovative projects that will contribute to higher productivity, employability, and job promotion for African youth.
The EU SIFA Innovation Funding Window III (FW3) is designed to support innovative skills development approaches in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which showcase new or improved ways of making skills more accessible, relevant, and recognised for employability. Emphasis is on products, services, and processes that will contribute to employment-oriented skills development for young people in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, and Tunisia.
More specifically, FW3 is looking to fund market validation projects with potential innovations existing at the prototype and/or concept stage but requiring testing in a real-life environment with users. Thus FW3-funded projects will help the project owners seek clarity on technical features and business models before the final market roll-out. Alternatively, the project can be based on an already existing product, service or process that is proposed to be transferred into a new geographical location or for the benefit of new user groups.
The Programme will award co-financing grants ranging from 150.000 to 400.000 euros per project through a competitive application process. The applicant must contribute 10% in cash or in-kind from its own funds to complete the project finance.
The first Call for Proposals of FW3 is open from December 15, 2022, to February 6, 2023, at 23:59 SAST. It will seek applications for innovative, high-quality, and multi-dimensional TVET projects across three themes: Digital Tools and Skills, Female Entrepreneurship and Employability, and Training Innovation in Informal Sectors.
